This evening our team has completed a week of hosting an international Christian Peacemaker Team delegation here in Barrancaberemeja. The delegation met with youth groups, women's groups, human rights organizations and labor unions during their time in the Barranca. Out of what the delegation heard during their visit, they planned a public witness which we did yesterday afternoon.

The theme of the witness was "Una Voz para las Mujeres. Una Voz para Colombia" (A Voice for Women. A Voice for Colombia). The action focused on supporting the women of Colombia and the work of the Organización Femenina Popular (Popular Women’s Organization, OFP). The OFP has houses for women in various neighborhoods in the city and about 30 of them came to participate in the action.

My support role in the action was faxing the press release, designing bookmarks to hand out to passersby and taking photos. The bookmarks are all handed out, but we managed to drupm up a few television news crews as you can see in the photos below. It's hard to know exactly what the impact of an action like this is, but hopefully it contributes in some small way to creating a positive culture of peace and safety for women and girls here in Barranca.

Below are some of the photos I took at the action yesterday. If you have any interest in joining a CPT delegation, see the list of upcoming CPT delegations.
